Seagull Sam

Sam is told by his older brother and sister he is too small to fly a kite. But is he too small to do greater things? And why is Sam acting like a seagull?

Seagull Sam is the second picture book by Maine author Katie Clark that I have illustrated for Down East Books. He will be flying into bookstores and libraries in Spring, 2007

Too small to fly a kite Aark!

"Aark!" Sam squawked. "Aark!" He rushed toward the picnic table. The second seagull took to the air a swift thump of its wings.

Sam pretended to peck in the cracks. "Aark! Yum-yum. Aark!" Standing tall, he tipped his head toward the sun.

"I’m like you!" Sam called to the birds circling high overhead. "I'm a seagull!"
